Brad Binder crashed out of the German MotoGP while holding onto third place.
The South African started the race in eighth place, but found himself in a position to challenge for the final podium spot after just two laps.
He looked very comfortable behind race-winner Jorge Martin and Francesco 'Pecco' Bagnaia.

But with 12 laps to go, Binder got it wrong into Turn 8, sending him out of the race. The Red Bull KTM rider looked groggy when he got up from the gravel, and was taken to the on-site medical centre as a precaution.
With Binder crashing out, Johann Zarco inherited third place. Binder and Zarco battled for fifth place during Saturday's sprint race, with the Pramac rider getting the better of the South African, relegating SA's star rider to sixth.
"I had quite a good start and things were going well," Binder said after Sunday's main race.
"I could not run the pace of the first two guys but I was set in 3rd. Unfortunately, when I grabbed the front brake at the bottom of the hill I locked the front wheel a little bit and my left foot slipped off the footpeg.
"I was then going wide and off the track. I kept the lean angle but when I came to pick it up, the rear let go on me and I ended up crashing. Disappointing because I know I could have at least fought for a podium and the team deserved it. Thanks to the guys for all their hard work. Let’s give it a go next week."
Coming into the race, Binder was fourth in the 2023 MotoGP championship, but a pointless outing in Germany saw him lose the position to Zarco. Binder remains on 96 points, 13 behind Zarco.
