Guy Botterill is not someone to shy away from a challenge. And when the opportunity to race in the 2024 Dakar Rally came knocking, he grabbed it with both hands.

It may have come at the expense of Henk Lategan, who was nursing an injured shoulder, but such is the nature of the game that 1.) anything can derail your plans, and 2.) you must always be ready to step up when it's your time.

Expectedly, Botterill, who made his Dakar debut at 37-years-old, was ready for it, realising a lifelong dream.
