The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has denied being responsible for the delays that saw a R100-million tender fraud case against its potential star witness in former National Assembly speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula's R2.5 million corruption trial being struck from the roll.
And, in response to questions from News24, National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) Shamila Batohi's office revealed that defence contractor Nombasa Ntsondwa-Ndhlovu's lawyers were yet to provide full representations about why she should not be prosecuted for the R100 million tender fraud and allegedly bribing a high-profile general with R1.35 million in payments.
While records at the Specialised Commercial Crime Court in Pretoria state that Ntsondwa-Ndhlovu had until 1 December 2023 (at the latest) to submit her representations to Batohi about why the fraud and corruption case against her should be dropped, NPA spokesperson Mthunzi Mhaga denied she'd received the representations then.
