While things seem to be resembling normality somewhat, some people are in good standing financially and can once again purchase a vehicle, albeit pre-owned.

Analysis of AutoTrader's sales data showed that certain vehicles were sold up to R40 000 cheaper than usual in March 2020.
The prices of new vehicles have risen substantially over the last few years. The Renault Kwid once held the title as SA's cheapest entry-level in 2016 with a price tag of R119 900. The latest version currently retails for R162 900.
Going on the basis that the buyer will not be putting down a deposit on a vehicle priced at R100 000, the monthly repayment over a five-year term, excluding insurance and on-road fees, would be approximately R2 200. This will differ from bank to bank and interest rate fluctuations.
