Saying brand-new vehicles in South Africa are expensive is putting the cost mildly. Inflation, the impact of wars, and the overall high cost of living mean splashing cash on a brand-new ride is a luxury few can afford. The used-car market would then serve as the next best place, right? 

Well, not entirely and not in this case. Generally, it's not uncommon for the price of some older cars to surpass that of brand-new ones, and there are quite a few of them to mention – but that's an article for another day. It takes someone with deep pockets and a true love for a specific (older) car to disregard "sensible" buying advice.
