Although the announcement that R1.50 will be cut from the General Fuel Levy (GFL) earlier in March might come as a blessing for cash-strapped South African motorists, the fuel price outlook for April remains bleak - particularly if you use diesel.
The Department of Minerals and Energy (DMRE) confirmed that 93 octane petrol would increase by 28 cents a litre and 95 octane by 36 cents a litre this month. Diesel is set for staggering increases, climbing by between R1.52 a litre and R1.69 a litre. The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin rises by R2.66 a litre.
