South Africa is SUV country. Fortuner is the default middle-class family car, and the SUV market, broadly, remains very robust.

From compact SUVs to luxury all-terrain vehicles, off-road vehicle configurations have displaced many traditional vehicle classes. Like sedans. And MPVs.

South Africa is not an island of isolation regarding global product trends. And that means the future of SUV-everything, might not be quite as we imagine it. In many global cities with the spending power of an entire South African province, the anti-SUV messaging is real.
