- Zero to 100km/h in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 280km/h tickle your fancy?
- How about space for four adults and enough cargo space to accommodate dogs?
- Sadly, you can't have these lovely things, as the new M3 wagon is not coming to SA.

South Africa might rank high among BMW M markets worldwide regarding sales, but we're not a wagon country. Sure, Audi has carved a niche with the RS4 and RS6 Avant, but BMW (and Mercedes, for that matter) couldn't crack the estate market with its performance behemoths.
Sadly, because we'd rather have hulking SUVs, BMW South Africa has decided not to introduce the all-new BMW M3 Touring. Still, we can drool over it together.
The first Competition wagon from M
According to BMW, The first-ever M3 Competition Touring combines authentic motorsport feeling, a distinct character, and a broader spread of practical qualities. Its powertrain technology is focused wholly on delivering beguiling performance. It combines the 375kW version of the six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic and the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system.
The variable-use interior of the first BMW M3 Competition Touring gives it a distinctive character profile, providing fresh scope for experiencing M-typical performance in everyday use. The new BMW iDrive with BMW Operating System 8, including BMW Curved Display, as you get in the iX electric car, brings cutting-edge control, operation and connectivity tech to the cabin.

Fitting 50th-anniversary celebration
The BMW M model offensive continues in its 50th anniversary year with the addition of a fourth model type to the BMW M3/M4 range alongside the Sedan, Coupé and Convertible.
The BMW M3 Competition Touring will celebrate its world premiere at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend; orders for the new BMW M3 Touring can be taken from September 2022, ahead of a market launch under way with the start of production in November 2022.

The BMW M3 Touring will be produced alongside the BMW M3 Sedan at BMW Group Plant Munich. If you want BMW South Africa to bring it home, best you and your fellow BMW fanatics start a petition.
How quick is it? BMW says acceleration from 0 to 100km/h takes just 3.6 seconds and the sprint from 0 to 200 km/h requires just 12.9 seconds. Opting for the M Driver's Package increases the electronically limited top speed from 250km/h to 280km/h.
Excuse me while I weep that I (and you) won't get to experience this new M wagon flavour in SA. Let's hope this changes in future.
