Bugatti first presented its Bolide concept in 2020, and they've now confirmed a limited number of models slated for production.
Limited to only 40 units, the track-focused hypercar could well be classified as the French automaker's most radical creation yet. Powering the 1 450kg chassis is a quad-turbocharged 8.0-litre W16 engine with outputs of 1 177 or 1 361kW and 1 600Nm. The power figure is dependent on the type of fuel used.
Furthermore, in a car making so much power, everything from the cooling system for the turbochargers, transmission and differential has been uprated with the demands.
The Bolide is built in line with international FIA safety standards. Inventory like an automatic fire extinguishing system, pressure refuelling with a fuel bladder, central wheel locking, and a six-point safety belt system is standard.
High acclaim
Its design is predominantly futuristic and enhanced with race-supported features like an air intake scoop on the roof, a rear diffuser and a large rear wing that translates to higher downforce and better traction.

Stephan Winkelmann, President of Bugatti, says: "The Bolide generated a great deal of enthusiasm and intrigue last year. Following its presentation, a significant number of enthusiasts and collectors asked us to develop the experimental Bolide as a production vehicle.
"I was absolutely amazed by the reactions and feedback from customers from all over the world."
Delivery is scheduled for 2024 and will fetch a meaty price tag of €4-million and, when converted, fetches approximately R70-million - depending on the exchange rate.
