Ford's all-new Ranger bakkie will make its South African debut later in 2022 and boasts several technologies that make it the most advanced Ranger yet. According to Ford, the new bakkie offers an enhanced user experience, and the large-format screens' usability is close to that of smartphones.
Graham Pearson, Ranger vehicle program director, said: "Customers had an overwhelming response to the next-gen Ranger's new interior design and the technologies our teams had integrated on the inside. Once again, Ranger will re-define the segment with a premium interior that clearly shows people don't have to sacrifice interior comfort or technologies just because they desire a truck."
One of the big talking points around the new Ranger is Ford's SYNC 4A. Not only is the new system easier to navigate, but the communications and entertainment system offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
The new Ranger's dashboard is also cleaner and decluttered, with an eight-inch digital instrument panel replacing the physical instrument cluster. The new digital unit can be customised to the driver's liking, and the panel displays a different theme for each driving mode.
Ford adds: "Depending on the variant, owners can toggle between layouts showing information such as driver-assist technologies, tachometer on or off, and extra gauges. There's also a 'calm view', which removes information on demand from the display."
