South African racing legend, Giniel de Villiers, has been closely associated with Toyota for the last decade. Now, the former Dakar winner has taken his passion for the brand and the reputable Hilux to the next level with a kit tailored for the bakkie.

In partnership with 4x4 Mega World, De Villiers will not only offer the GV Racing Toyota Hilux as a vehicle that is pleasing to the eye, but as something practical in real-world conditions.

De Villiers says: "The idea with the GDV Racing Toyota Hilux is to offer enthusiasts the opportunity to live their passion. To my eyes, the bakkie is clearly non-standard, but it doesn't feature any custom bodywork. This gives it a stylish yet rugged appearance, and together with the changes under the skin, will set it apart from the regular Hilux."

What you get

Three kits are available to the GDV Racing Toyota Hilux, starting with a decal-only kit at approximately R7 600. The next tier includes decals, a stainless nudge bar, stainless roll bar, ARB Intensity lights and Takla seat covers, with the GDV Racing logo embroidered.

Kurt Brunner, head of Business Development at 4x4 Mega World, adds: "The top tier is where the components really shine. In addition to the items already listed, the top tier also gains 17-inch Dirty Life alloy wheels shod with 265/70R17 S/T Cooper Max Tyres, as well as an adjustable Old Man Emu BP51 suspension system."

The suspension system has more than one purpose as it lifts the vehicle by an additional 50mm and improves the ride quality over the standard bakkie. According to a statement by De Villiers and 4x4 Mega World, the bakkie's dampers are ideally suited to off-road driving conditions and promise exceptional performance in sandy terrain such as dunes.

Brunner concludes: "The GDV Racing kits can be fitted to either new double cab bakkies or to bakkies that have been on the road for some time. However, we are treating this as a limited edition, so prospective buyers should contact us sooner rather than later."

The deal includes a signed GDV Racing cap and GDV Racing branded Oakley sunglasses.
