While the Ford Bronco is not destined for our market, local off-road fanatics and ardent Ford fans are very interested in news regarding this SUV. The Bronco is powered by a choice of engines, including a twin-turbo 2.7-litre V6 petrol engine. And for those keen on adding a bit of additional power to the powertrain, Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) has you covered.
The well-known American aftermarket tuning company has taken the Bronco 2.7 and gave it the VelociRaptor treatment. Called the Hennessey VelociRaptor 400 Bronco, power has been increased to 302kW (at 5 700rpm) and 682Nm of torque (at 3 000rpm). In achieving the power outputs, Hennessey fitted new intake and exhaust systems and recalibrated the engine.
The 4x4 can now clear 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds.
John Hennessey, company founder and CEO, says: "Whether you're on- or off-road, more power is what our customers demand, and our VelociRaptor 400 Bronco really delivers! The new Bronco is destined to be an icon, and our customers want their Bronco to stand out with enhanced styling and, of course, more power!"
HPE's production on the VelociRaptor 400 Bronco is limited to 200 units for 2021.
