News24 Motoring 4x4 contributor Nick Yell has only test-driven Mahindra 4x4 Pik Up bakkies, being impressed by their rugged styling and go-anywhere ability, as well as their fuel economy. But how would the marque's Scorpio-N SUV cope on some demanding 4x4 dirt tracks?

Until now, I've only test-driven Mahindra 4x4 Pik Up bakkies. I was impressed by their rugged styling, go-anywhere ability, and fuel economy; on both occasions, I put their 4x4-ability to the test on tough Grade 2-4 tracks where neither of them was found wanting. But how would the marque's less rugged-looking and lower-slung Scorpio-N SUV cope on some demanding 4x4 dirt tracks to the Biedouw Valley? I wondered.
