Is it worth spending extra money on the Audi TTS?
Is it worth spending extra money on the Audi TTS?

Gerald: Is it worth spending the extra money to get the Audi TTS rather than the standard Audi TT 45 TFSI?

It depends. Apart from an engine that delivers 30% more power, the TTS also powers all four wheels, in legendary quattro fashion. But the standard car is no slouch, running the Golf GTI’s 169 kilowatt engine. More power just seems like overkill, and most drivers won’t even notice that the TT 45 TFSI drives the front wheels only.

The other issue is that Audi South Africa has trimmed the TT line-up. The TT 45 TFSI was recently withdrawn from the local market, leaving the TTS (R813 500) to carry the flag alone. That is, until the rabid TT RS arrives later this year, with a seven-figure price tag.
