An Erica Park Primary school learner earned top honours in a local design competition organised by Eastern Cape dealer Tavcor Volkswagen.
The 2019 edition of the competition asked Nelson Mandela Bay metro learners to "draw inspiration from outer space as they give the already eye-catching Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace an intergalactic makeover."
In the primary school category, the top 3 finalists were all from Erica Girls Primary. In 3rd and 2nd place was Likhwezi Gcsamba and Aashqah Abrahams respectively, first place was awarded to Buchule Maseti.
Maseti says she was very excited to see her winning design wrapped around an Allspace.
“We are blown away by the creativity of pupils and the number of entries received this year,” Tavcor VW's sales general manager Martin Taverner told HeraldLive.
High School category:
The judges awarded the top 3 places to Chloe Coetsee (Collegiate Girls High) and 2nd place to Genevieve Broccardo (Victoria Park High).
The winning prize was awarded to Kayleen Govender (below) from Pearson High School. Unfortunately, Govender could not attend the ceremony at Tavcor, as it coincided with her school's prize giving.
There was much applause from her friends at school when the vehicle was unveiled to reveal her design.
