Ever wondered what car your favourite celebrity drives?

If so, chances are that you've roped in the services of Google to search for said celebrity and their cars. But which celeb is the most searched? Is it Lewis Hamilton? Perhaps a Kardashian with their lavish lifestyles? Ooh, Snoop Dogg must be a popular choice!

Well, all these names are among the 50 most searched celebrities, but they are not in the top three. Monthly, the three most searched celebs are Jay Leno, Elon Musk, and Bill Gates. Leno, a famous television personality, accumulates a monthly search volume of 12 700 searches. And his favourite car is a Mercedes-Benz 600 Kompressor.

The guys over at All Car Leasing went to the trouble of compiling a list of most searched celebrities and their cars. To read the original article, click here.

Jay Leno

All Car Leasing said on Leno: "The former US talk show host Jay Leno is the owner of one of the most impressive car collections in the world, with over 180 cars and 160 motorcycles, including restorations in his private garage all with a total estimated value of over $52-million (R871.94-million, est.).

"Amid a collection packed with exotic motors and vintage classics, the standout model is Jay's 1972 Mercedes-Benz 600, which he had fitted with a supercharger, making it the only 600 Kompressor in existence."

Bill Gates

Gates is the third most searched celebrity on the list after Elon Musk. On Gates, All Car Leasing says: "As one of the richest people in the world, Bill Gates can afford any car he wants and is known for his love of Porsches.

"Over the years he's owned multiple cars from the brand, including the Porsche 911 supercar which he bought as soon as Microsoft started making money, the 930 Turbo, the all-electric Taycan model and the 959, of which only a few hundred were ever made."

It must be a sports car

Wheels24's Charlen Raymond comments: The list of cars owned by the 50 most searched celebrities is pretty awesome. Though Leno and Gates' are stellar, I'm inclined towards the more modern machines.

The AMG GT R, as driven by Hamilton, is an insanely competent car. Having driven its sibling, the GT C Roadster, in 2018, there is no denying that Mercedes-AMG produced a car that can take on the best of the supercar world. The bi-turbo 4.0-litre V8 produces 430kW and 700Nm and has no issue clearing 300km/h.

Because of nostalgia, I will throw my weight behind Rowan Atkinson and his McLaren F1. Atkinson provided ample entertainment in many a person's younger years, but the actor is also a known petrol head. Did you know that his F1 is used as a daily drive? And at one point, it was the F1 with the highest mileage on the planet. While others' hide' their F1's, Atkinson uses his.

Dwayne' The Rock' Johnson acquired fame while wrestling for WWE before making the switch to Hollywood. In the years since, he became one of the most sought-after actors, and his bank account grew with his fame. Though he has other cars in his garage, his favourite is a Ford F-150. A bakkie! That will surely make many of us smile from ear to ear after learning that. We smell it, Rocky, we smell it.

The classic in the list I found a liking to, is the one driven by actor and comedian, Eddie Murphy. The celeb owns a Mercedes SLS, the car that preceded the current GT range (of which Hamilton's GT R is the headliner). The SLS boasted a massive 6.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8 engine that produced 420kW and 650Nm of torque. If emission regulations did not come into play as strongly as it did, chances were that we could have seen that power figure increase. The SLS is a design icon and its gullwing doors a showstopper at any occasion.
