Jaguar South Africa has just launched its special edition F-Pace Chequered Flag in SA.
The SUV, the first of its kind from the British manufacturer, was launched locally in 2016 and has gone on to establish itself as an important factor in Jaguar’s model line-up.
The Chequered Flag is a special model to a range that’s been left largely untouched the last four years.

Racing heritage
The Chequered Flag, says Jaguar, takes inspiration from the automaker’s racing heritage. Cues to highlight this piece of history include a new sport front bumper, and black detailing on the front grille, door cladding, side vents, and roof rails.
The 19-inch wheels are also finished in a Gloss Black hue.

Inside the cabin, perforated leather is used on the seats, and aluminium has been used to create the ‘Chequered Flag’ treadplates. Both front seats are 10-way electrically adjustable, but the driver’s seat offers memory function.
Apple CarPlay is standard, as well as Jaguar’sTouch Pro Navigation pack and Meridian Sound System. The 12.3-inch Interactive Driver Display and Touch Pro infotainment system is configurable, says Jaguar.
The Chequered Flag is available in Yulong White, Santorini Black, and the newly introduced colour, Eiger Grey.

2.0-litre engines
Across the Chequered Flag range, Jaguar implemented turbocharged 2.0-litre engines - comprising both petrol and diesel – and fitted the SUV with its all-wheel-drive system. The petrol model, says Jaguar, is performance-orientated and produces 184kW. It allows the SUV to go from 0-100km/h in 7.0 seconds, and onto a top speed of 217km/h.
The diesel engine is available in two states of tune: 132kW and 177kW. It takes the 132kW-version 9sec to clear the 0-100km/h time, while the more powerful version needs 7.2sec. Top speeds for both models are claimed at 208km/h and 217km/h, respectively.
