The winners of the 2019 Toyota Dream Car Competition have been announced at a fun-filled awards ceremony. Taking place annually, the Dream Car Art Contest is organised by Toyota affiliates around the world. The competition is open to three age categories, namely: "under-8s, 8-11 and 12-15 year-olds".

The top five contestants in each category win prizes on a national level and the top three are subsequently entered into the international competition – judged in Japan – in a panel including President of Toyota Motor Corporation - Akio Toyoda.

In the Under 8 category, Reese Govender whose vehicle is called "The Future is Toyota" clinched first place. Reese’s design is based on her dream of, Toyota becoming the leading car manufacturer in space exploration.

In the 12-15 years category, Renee Leah Chetty walked away with first prize for her 'Toyota Bubbly'. Her vehicle will "suck pollution and clean the air everywhere it drives and recycles carbon pigments into non-toxic inks and paint. It will then create some pretty bubbles and some artwork on them and then it will open up its back doors to release fresh air and bubbles."

Dream Car Art Contest

First held in 2004, the Dream Car Art Contest gives children around the world the opportunity to feel the joy and importance of having dreams. The competition also affords children a platform to share ideas about the future of mobility by drawing their dream cars. Last year, a total of 650 000 entries were received from 76 countries.

This year, TSAM added a new element to the competition: schools that collected the most entries were awarded. The top three performing schools were Chloorkop Primary School (1st prize - R15 000), John Mitchell School (2nd prize – R10 000) and Pioneer Primary School (3rd prize – R5 000).

TSAM thanks everyone who participated in the 13th annual Dream Car Art Contest and wishes to congratulate all the winners on their achievements.
