WATCH: Rough and ready - Ford's Ranger Raptor bakkie

On the trail of a beast that's also a real beauty - Ford's off-roading Ranger Raptor bakkie.

The special model is based on the American F-150, but packs a two-litre 157kW diesel engine. Drive it! took the model out for a spin in Morocco.

157kW/500Nm

It's powered by an all-new 157kW and 500Nm from a 2.0-litre bi-turbocharged engine assembled at the firm's Struandale Engine Plant in Port Elizabeth, and utilising a sophisticated new 10-speed automatic transmission.

The engine is combined with Position Sensitive Damping (PSD) shock absorbers, an advanced Terrain Management System (TMS) that includes an exciting Baja mode, a toughened reinforced chassis, powerful all-disc braking system and specially developed BF Goodrich tyres.
