Lamborghini Track-only limited edition hypercar world première is scheduled for summer 2020

Most powerful V12 engine from Lamborghini yet

The SCV12 has better aerodynamic efficiency and higher downforce levels than a GT3 car

Lamborghini Squadra Corse's track-only hypercar, the Lamborghini SCV12, has completed its development programme and is now ready to hit the track for its world première, scheduled for summer 2020.

It is fitted with the most powerful V12 naturally aspirated engine from Lamborghini yet and a claimed power figure of more than 618kW thanks to aerodynamic supercharging at high speed.

Benefiting from Squadra Corse’s GT motorsport expertise, the SCV12 generates aerodynamic efficiency and higher downforce levels than a GT3 car, says Lamborghini.

The SCV12's front bonnet has a double air intake and a central rib directing airflow to the ram-air intake scoop located on the roof.

This directs dynamic air pressure created by the car's movement to increase static air pressure in the engine’s intake manifold, creating greater airflow through the engine and increasing power.

There are bespoke features for the hypercar including a new fully carbon fibre chassis that cuts weight and allows for a greater power-to-weight ratio says Lamborghini.

Believe it or not, the SCV12 puts it power down onto the rear-wheels only and uses a sequential six-speed gearbox as a structural element within the chassis. The race car DNA is strong.

The rear suspension is made up of a pushrod rear system installed directly on the gearbox, while specially-developed slick Pirelli tyres fitted on magnesium rims (19-inch in the front and 20-inch at the rear) do duty.

The new model will be assembled entirely within the Squadra Corse factory in Sant'Agata Bolognese, n limited numbers.

Customers have access to advanced driving programmes at some of the world’s most prestigious circuits with the technical assistance of Squadra Corse engineers and the special tutoring of Emanuele Pirro, a five-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
