Ford's limited edition Fiesta ST 200 is available in SA

Pretoria - Ford South Africa announced an allocation of 160 units of the Fiesta ST200, a more powerful version packing 149kW and 290Nm. 

Its fettled 1.6-litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine's power has increased from 134kW to 149kW (or 200hp, hence the ST200 designation). Torque jumps from the standard car's 240Nm to 290Nm. 

Overboost function

A further 11kW and 30Nm are available for up to 20 seconds using the engine's transient overboost. The six-speed manual gearbox receives a shorter final drive ratio (reduced from 3.82 to 4.06). 

Ford claims a 0 to 100km/h sprint time of 6.7 seconds, its been electronically restrained to 230km/h.

Suspension tweaks

The ST200 also features an upgraded suspension, which includes a rear twistbeam with 27% more roll stiffness, an increase in diameter from 19 to 21mm for the front anti-roll bar and new damper specifications for better impact absorption.

Ford says they've improved the Electronic Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) to aid cornering feedback and control. 

Exterior

The ST200 is differentiated by its 'Storm Grey' metallic colour is and matt black 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels that frame red front and rear brake callipers. 

Rear LED tail lamps and exclusive ST200 exterior and interior badging provide further clues as to this special Fiesta's rare pedigree.

Inside

The ST200 is fitted with heated Recaro sport seats with and by dual-tone seatbelts, illuminated scuff plates and privacy glass for the rear windows.

For convenience, everse parking sensors with an integrated reverse camera are also included. 

You still get all the cool standard Fiesta ST's features including SYNC® with Bluetooth and Voice Control, Ford MyKey, remote central locking with keyless entry and start, climate control, as well as seven airbags including a driver's knee airbag.
