Women's World Car of the Year: Automotive history in the making at London Motor & Tech Show

History was made at the 2019 London Motor & Tech Show last week because, for the first time in the 121-year history of automotive shows, a group of female motoring writers had a stand.

AutoTrader SA said: "This has never happened before at any motor show anywhere in the world; the journalists are all members of the Women's World Car of the Year jury."

"Women really count in the wheels game. Women influence over 80% of car purchases, so they really matter to vehicle manufacturers and dealers," says George Mienie, South African motor industry commentator and London Motor & Tech Show guest.

During the motor show, the judges which include South Africa’s own Charleen Clarke, presented their Car of the Year award to Volvo, which has won this accolade with its XC40.

They also presented Fiona Pargeter, customer experience director for Jaguar Land Rover, the inaugural Woman of Worth award for the first time.

The award, which honours exceptional women in the motor industry, was presented by the Women's World Car of the Year jury at the London Motor & Tech Show.
