The 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race is one of the most prestigious and challenging motorsport events and one racer is steadily making her dreams of competing in France come true.

Charlie Martin, a British transgender race driver, is aiming to compete at the prestigious race and in the process, also become the first transgender to do so.

She has competed in a number of races with her sights now set on the GT3 and LMP3 class in the Michelin Le Mans Cup.

Besides her love for motorsport and racing, she is also active in the LGBT Foundation, a charity delivering community, health and well-being services to lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people living in the UK.

Her target is to make her debut at the 2021 edition of the Le Mans race.
