WATCH: Chinese drivers racing for global success

There's been a spike in popularity for race car driving in China with plenty of drivers staking their claim to become the country's first Formula 1 representative.

Ryan Liu is one such driver out to achieve this dream and his recent win in the 2018 China GT4 championship is putting him on the right path.

A long way to go

The Chinese GT is still relatively new since it began back in 2016 and has served as a popular sport for wealthy Chinese families able to fund everything from co-drivers to maintenance and scrutineering.

Liu has had to fork out plenty of his own money in a bid to work his way through the ranks to reach his eventual goal of competing in an F1 car.
