SA Ferrari racer Perel to defend his Gulf 12-Hour victory

South Africa - South African racer and Blancpain GT Endurance Series 2017 winner, David Perel, heads to Abu Dhabi on December 16 to race a Ferrari one last time in 2017 as he defends his Gulf 12-Hour victory achieved in 2016.

Perel was gearing up for the holiday season when he got the call from his team to notify him that he will be racing for Dragon Racing in a Ferrari 458 GT3 around the billion dollar F1 race track.

Perel said: "As a racing driver it’s the call you always want to get. Knowing that my racing abilities are in demand is hugely satisfying and am looking forward to the challenge."

David first competed in the Gulf 12 Hour in 2016 and won the race on debut, fighting from one lap behind to win it in the final hour.

He added: "The Race last year really setup my 2017 season. As a team we carried that momentum the whole way through and managed to win some of the biggest GT3 races."

Racing gets underway on Saturday December 16 at 12pm (Abu Dhabi local time). Perel will share the car between three other drivers as they battle for honours against a packed field.
