Day seven of the 2020 Dakar rally played host to the longest stage of this year's race.
Team Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) took the day's challenge by the horns and by the time the first half of the stage was done, the team was leading from the front with Nasser Al-Attiyah at the helm.
Things were looking up for Al-Attiyah to take his first stage win of the race, but a 250km stretch that drivers drove flat out meant that the Qatari and the rest of the team were left exposed. Because of the Hilux's 4x4 setup and subsequent greater weight, the team was outrun by their Mini rivals; who are competing in rear-wheel drive buggies.
TGR will be hoping that Stage 8 brings about a change in fortunes.
