"As soon as I was old enough to start racing road bikes, I swapped over (from go-karts) and I just preferred two wheels," says South African motorcycle champion rider Brad Binder.

The 24-year-old will make his debut in the premier MotoGP class in 2020 for KTM. Binder finished second in the Moto2 championship in 2019 and was recently featured on M-Net's Carte Blanche

The Potchefstroom-born rider won the Moto3 championship in 2016 and recently tested his MotoGP-spec KTM machine in Valencia and Jerez in the traditional pre-season testing in Spain.

"I pulled out the pits (at testing) and had Valentino Rossi on one side and Marc Márquez on the other, these guys are the legends of the sport and I find myself next to them," Binder said.

The KTM rider heaps praise on his parents Trevor and Sharon for the sacrifices they made in the early stages of his career.

Binder's first race of the season for his new team will be in Thailand on March 22.
