WATCH | Kid tells Max Verstappen how he 'winned' and got a Red Bull F1 car

Whether you love him or hate him, Max Verstappen has his moments.

On a video posted on Instagram, Verstappen is seen in conversation with a young Formula 1 fan. The kid, still a toddler, is doing his utmost best to explain - coherently - to Verstappen what had transpired when he played F1 on his Playstation.

A series of thoughts ramble from his mouth, but the lad at least manages to string a sentence or two together.

He says: “And one day I winned a race and then they gave me a car and then it was your car. And then I drived it.”

The little boy is a clear fan of the support and spoke about how he raced Verstappen’s car, but things take a turn when he notes: “But one day I was the first one and then a faster car come and then I crashed him.”

Bless his innocent heart, because clearly the kid does not know the FIA and its rules.

Verstappen an inspiration

One of the reasons why Verstappen is so loved by the new generation of fans, is because of his age. The Dutchman joined the sport at on 16-years-old, and soon found himself racing for Red Bull Racing – winning on his first outing in the process.

From that first win onwards, Verstappen managed to open the door to other drivers who subsequently joined the sport at a young age. Suddenly, it wasn’t necessary to be 22-years-old when joining the sport for the first time.

This, in turn, drew a new fanbase to F1 who was inspired by Verstappen’s actions, as well as those who followed after him.

The current crop of drivers, excluding Verstappen, who are in their early twenties, include Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), Lando Norris (McLaren), George Russell (Williams), and Alex Albon (Red Bull).
