• The first of two races at the Silverstone Circuit take place this weekend.

• The first British Grand Prix took place on 13 May 1950.

• Six-time Formula 1 drivers' champion Lewis Hamilton shared one of his favourite British GP moments on Twitter.

This weekend's British Grand Prix is the fourth race of the delayed Formula 1 season and is the first of two races in consecutive weekends at the Silverstone Circuit.

The second race is labelled the 70th Anniversary GP to commemorate the first round of the F1 World Championship that took place at Silverstone on 13 May 1950.

Ahead of the first race, the British media have been looking back at some memorable moments from the British GP. Six-time world F1 drivers' champion Lewis Hamilton shared one of his favourite moments on Tuesday (28 July) when he posted a video of the 2008 race.

Hamilton won his first of six British GPs in torrential rain in the McLaren-Mercedes.

"Fantastic job guys, thank you very much for giving me the support. I know it's been a tough weekend, but we've done it, we've bloody done it," he said over the team radio.

The British driver would go on to earn his first drivers' championship title that season, beating Brazilian Felipe Massa by one point.

Hamilton, now driving for Mercedes-AMG F1, leads the drivers' standings after two wins from the first three races of the season.

The 35 year old currently has one championship title less than German driver Michael Schumacher, and is on course to equal the record seven titles.

The 2020 season was delayed due to the coronavirus and only got underway at the beginning of July. Several races have been postponed and canceled, including the Monaco GP.

F1.com reported that three new races at Imola, Portimao and the Nurburgring have been added to F1’s revised 2020 race calendar. This brings the total number to 10 confirmed races for the season.

Mercedes has won all three races convincingly and has a 66 point lead over Red Bull in the constructors' championship.

Ahead of the race on Sunday, Hamilton shared a video of his first win at Silverstone in F1 and we picked out some fans' favourite memories of the British GP.

Hamilton has won all the drivers' titles since the sport implemented 1.6-litre turbocharged engines in 2014. He has maintained a high standard since joining from McLaren in 2013.

His relationship with engineer Peter Bonnington has blossomed into a winning combo that strives to learn, tweak and improve after every lap, session and race. It's incredible to hear the praise Lewis bestows upon the team over the radio and in press conferences.

He is a team player and well aware that his dominance in the sport is because of a collective rather than an individual. The close relationship between himself and team principal Toto Wolff is one that many people admire. They are both fiercely competitive yet are socially aware and again focus on team work rather than individual performances.

Hamilton asked his Twitter followers to share their favourite moments of the British GP.

Leepyphoto said: "2017 Silverstone. The whole weekend was awesome. Meeting you and plenty of other drivers. Seeing you win and being on the track amongst all the other fans.

Simon Henry said: "I can't remember which race it was, but I do remember that you once made the grid in the nick of time after a fuel/engine problem and went on to win the race. That was pretty special."

Sidney Landsam said: "Absolute masterclass rain drive (referring to 2008). But one of my most memorable moments was the 2018 qualifying session! The Ferraris were so mighty that year; You drove on the edge & ultimately snatched the pole. When you got out of the car, you were shaking! Literally! Even Martin (Brundle) noticed."
