Cape Town - Mercedes-Benz has launched its new GLC Coupe in South Africa.
The new compact SUV, Mercedes says, is a "sports car among mid-size SUVs" in its segment.
It measures 4.73m long, 1.60m tall and has a wheelbase of 2.87m. Its dimensions make the coupé almost 8cm longer and 4cm lower than the GLC, with which it shares its basic architecture.
Six models
The new GLC Coupe is provisionally available in six variants; customers have a choice of three diesel-powered versions and three petrol engines.
The range includes four-cylinder diesel models - GLC 220d 4MATIC Coupe and GLC 250d 4MATIC Coupe. The GLC 350d 4MATIC Coupe is powered by a V6 diesel engine.

• GLC 250 d 4MATIC Coupe, diesel, 150kW/500Nm
• GLC 350 d 4MATIC Coupe, diesel, 190kW/620Nm
• GLC 250 4MATIC Coupe, petrol, 155kW/350Nm
• GLC 300 4MATIC Coupe, petrol, 180kW/370Nm
• Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4MATIC Coupe, petrol, 270kW/520Nm
Configuring the Coupe
The new GLC Coupe package includes 18” light-alloy wheels, easy-pack tailgate, audio 20 CD multimedia system, reversing camera, keyless-go starting function and upholstery in artico man-made leather.
Also included as standard are assistance systems such as collision prevention assist plus, crosswind assist, headlight assist, attention assist and ESP with dynamic cornering assist.

Mercedes-Benz also offers a wide selection of optional packages for its new SUV Coupe, including AMG Line packages for the interior and exterior and night package.
A choice of tyres and rim sizes are also on offer. An optional sports exhaust system for the four-cylinder petrol engines are also available.
