Russia - Earlier in April, Wheels24 reported that adventurer Rainer Zietlow and his co-drivers begin a world record attempt of driving their Volkswagen Amarok, fitted with recently launched Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure tyres, from Dakar to Moscow in four days or less.
Amazingly, Zietlow and his team completed the journey in 3 days, 4 hours and 54 minutes, setting a world record for the fastest drive from Dakar to Moscow.
After their start in Dakar on April 22, Rainer Zietlow, Russian blogger Peter Bakanov and journalist Georgy Gloube, covered more than 8000km and passed through 10 countries in a record pace, arriving in Moscow on April 25 2017.
Worthy cause
As he did with his previous challenges, Zietlow donated the funds he raised to the charity SOS Children’s Village in Senegal which he visited just before the world record run. Rainer Zietlow donated around €1500, which is roughly 20 eurocents per kilometer driven.
Rainer Zietlow said upon his arrival in Moscow: "We are thrilled that we managed to complete this drive in a world record time. It was an amazing journey, throwing at us a wide variety of weather and road conditions. I wish to thank Goodyear for supporting us during this ultimate road trip and for providing us with the reliable Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure tyres.”
