Cape Town - The Volkswagen Polo Vivo was South Africa’s best-selling budget car in August 2017, reports Naamsa.
The popular hatchback found 2340 new homes in SA, substantially more than the second-placed Toyota Etios.
Small dynamite
The Etios continued its strong run as one of SA’s favourite cars, with 1161 units finding new owners this past month. The Polo Vivo and Etios were the only budget cars to have sold more than a thousand units.
Leading the rest of the charge is Kia’s little Picanto, recently named an SA Car of the Year finalist. The Korean manufacturer sold 846 Picanto’s in SA last month; almost a hundred units more than the budget-beating Renault Kwid in fourth place with 784 units sold.

The Picanto’s cousin, the Hyundai Grand i10, found 591 new owners; just ahead of the Ford Figo (530 units). The Datsun Go sold the seventh most cars on 451 units, followed by the Suzuki Swift on 350 units.
The Renault Sandero (345 units) and Chevrolet Spark (248 units) round out the top ten.
