Nissan to suspend production for Japan market amid inspection scandal

Tokyo - Nissan said on Thursday it was suspending all production destined for the local market, as Japan's number-two automaker grapples with a mounting inspection scandal that has already seen it recall some 1.2 million vehicles.

"Nissan decided today to suspend vehicle production for the Japan market at all Nissan and Nissan Shatai plants in Japan," it said in a statement, referring to an affiliate.
