In a peculiar fit of misguided German engineering endeavour, AC Schnitzer have developed a digital gear display gear knob.
We are as much at a loss as anybody to fathom the reason for such a thing. No less, AC Schnitzer offer the new sports gear knob for most contemporary manual-shift BMW and Mini models.
Easy installation too, with no complex rewiring necessary. The gear knob, with its red on black digital display, is trigger by position sensors instead so all it needs is a power supply.
AC Schnitzer claims it to be an apt solution for performance orientated drivers who get confused as to which gear they’re in when negotiating a particularly challenging stretch of road.
Problem is you have to take your eyes off the road and look down to check it - surely a dash mounted display would have been the more pragmatic solution?
