Munich - BMW has posted a clip of its new all-wheel drive M5 (code name F90) on Facebook but didn't reveal much except for yellow 'M' front brake calipers.
The big takeaway from the video is the announcement that we'll see the sports sedan on August 21 for the first time before it's shown at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
First M5 with all-wheel drive
The M5 x-Drive is shown driving through a desert and as we reported in May will be powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 engine. An eight-speed M gearbox with Drivelogic replaces the seven-speed M-DCT gearbox used in the F10 model.
BMW says the new M5 can be configured in five different ways based on combinations of the DSC modes (DSC on, MDM, DSC off) and M xDrive modes (4WD, 4WD Sport, 2WD).
Expect a quicker 0-100km/h sprint time although the automaker hasn't confirmed the exact time.
