Cape Town - Volkswagen will launch a fresher Golf 7 in the middle of 2017.
The updated Golf is enhanced throughout with the exterior and interior receive major tweaks while mechanically it gains new engines and an improved transmission.
GTD to make Mzansi debut
The refreshed model also gains a new infotainment system and improved safety technology.
VW has confirmed the updated 2017 Golf and GTD is expected to arrive in May, with the GTI, 1.4 TSI and 1.0 TSI models following in July.
The GTD is a new addition to the local range, and is a 'performance diesel', its 2.0-litre diesel engine develops 137kW/350Nm. 0-100km/h takes 7.5 secs and top speed is a claimed 230km/h.
Priced from the R290 000 to the R650 000, the new line-up is as follows:
