New Kia Sorento range-topper: We have details on the SXL

Johannesburg - Kia adds a new range-topped to its Sorento SUV line with the local introduction of its SXL derivative.

The SXL derivative features a 7" colour touch screen with sat-nav integrated into the infotainment as standard. 

Familiar drivetrain

Based on the existing SX AWD model, the new Sorento SXL is powered by a 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine, capable of 147kW/440Nm, mated to a 6-speed auto and Dynamax All Wheel Drive. 

The new SXL model also benefits from blind spot detection with lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert and smart power tailgate.

David Sieff, Kia South Africa marketing director, said: “At the time of its launch last year, the all-new Sorento was a key model for KIA, especially when considering South Africa’s affinity for the SUV class of vehicles.

"A year later, the Sorento remains a flagbearer of the Kia brand, showcasing not only our global expertise in automotive design, but also in quality execution, as evidenced by our recent number one ranking in the J.D. Power Initial Quality Survey.”
