Cape Town - Mercedes-AMG will expand its AMG GT family.
Shortly after its world premiere of the AMG GT R, the sports car and performance brand from Affalterbach is presenting two roadster variants of the two-seater sports car.
Alongside the AMG GT Roadster, the AMG GT C Roadster enhances the portfolio with a variant. With an output of 410kW/680Nm, the AMG GT C is the most powerful new roadster variant, using similar mechanical and technical details from the AMG GT R.
These include active rear axle steering and the electronically controlled rear axle locking differential.

With the addition of the new Roadster variants, the Mercedes-AMG GT family increases to five variants.
The entry-level into the AMG-badged roadster family is the AMG GT, with an output of 350kW. The AMG GT C Roadster adds a new output level; at 410kW, it's the more powerful of the two new open-top sports cars.
Fabric soft top
The fabric roof opens/closes in about 11 seconds, and can operated at speeds of up to 50km/h. The roof can be specified in three colours - black, red and beige. The three-layered fabric soft top is supported by a magnesium/steel/aluminium structure.
Driver-focused interior
The interior design echoes the design lines of the exterior, with the dashboard placing an emphasis on width and creating an impression of a powerful wing, says Mercedes. The company says the high beltlines, concave door panels, dynamically rising centre console and low seat position have been designed to integrate the driver with the cockpit.
Active rear axle steering
Up to a speed of 100km/h, the AMG GT C Roadster's rear wheels are turned in the opposite direction to the front wheels, which Mercedes says results in better handling characteristics and less steering input. This system will also ease parking the vehicle. Once the speed of the AMG GT C Roadster exceeds 100km/h, the system turns the rear wheels in the same direction as the front wheels.
