Audi's 294kW RS3 sedan debuts in Paris

  • 2.5 TFSI engine, 294kW/480Nm
  • 0-100km/h in 4.1 seconds
  • Wider track compared to A3
  • World's most powerful 5-cylinder engine

Paris – The new Audi RS3 took the stage in sedan guise at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.

According to the automaker, it's fitted with the most powerful five-cylinder engine to power a series production Audi yet.

Audi says the RS3 makes history as the first sedan in the automaker's history to use a transversely-mounted engine configuration.

Top speed of 280km/h

The new 2.5 TFSI delivers 294kW/480Nm, capable of propelling the sedan to 100km/h in 4.1 seconds.

It can achieve a maximum speed of 250km/h though, upon request, Audi can increase the top speed to 280km/h.

The sedan uses the same S-tronic seven-speed dual clutch transmission that transmits to the quattro permanent all-wheel drive.

Compared with an A3, the front track of the RS3 sedan is 20mm wider and the front wheel arches are flared wider as well. At the rear axle the wheels are spaced 14mm further apart compared with the standard model.

Step inside and you'll be greeted by a dark-toned interior with illuminated door sills bearing the RS 3 logos as standard. Black fine Nappa leather sport seats with RS logos on the backrests are standard. Optionally available are more contoured RS sport seats with integrated head restraints.
