Frankfurt - A bespoke Land Rover pedal car celebrating 60 years of Defender production… Sounds cool, right?
Well, that’s what Land Rover is currently previewing at the 2015 Frankfurt auto show.
Hey Huey...
According to the automaker the exclusive Defender pedal car concept was hand built in the UK and styled to commemorate the legacy of the first pre-production Land Rover affectionately known as ‘Huey’.
The show model even has an aluminium frame (so it won’t rust…) and is finished in the same Loire Blue found on the full-scale Defender colour palette.
Constructed precisely to scale it incorporates all of the Defender’s distinctive characteristics, has a spring suspension and working brakes, and can reverse pedal as well…
Inside, it has an authentically styled dashboard, a working hooter, leather finished seats and steering wheel, and rear stowage section with cover.
Lindsay Weaver, Jaguar Land Rover’s director of branded and licensed goods, says: “This is both a wonderful collector’s piece and children’s toy.”
For around £10 000 (approximately R220 000), you can buy a new Toyota Corolla Quest. With change. And it won’t leak oil. Come to think of it, neither will the pedal car.
