Cape Town - It’s almost time for the largest and longest running charity ride on the continent - The Toy Run.
The 2016 edition is organised by Colourworks in partnership with the Toy Run Trust. They’re expecting over 10 000 bikers to take part in the run through the city and for more than 20 000 toys to be donated to over 400 charities within the Western Cape.
For the first time, the Toy Run will focus on starting to integrate educational toys whilst making the event accessible to non-bikers with a move to a brand new venue and face-lifted premium entertainment experience.
Something special for 2016
What makes this year’s event special is the change in the finishing point and toy drop-off zone to Kenilworth Racecourse. Georgia Veale, Colourworks’s event organiser, is confident that the new venue will make for a fun family day experience with something for everyone to enjoy.

Veale said: “The move to Kenilworth Racecourse was to enable us to provide a more premium experience for not only the riders but those who want to take part in the Toy Run but don’t ride a bike.
"From a wide range of fun filled activities for the kids through to some seriously cool bands, tattoo stations and stalls from local motorcycle retailers, it’s a great day out for an even better cause.”
Emphasis on education
Another fundamental change this year is the call for more educational toys that will enable the Toy Run to leave a legacy of bettering communities through childhood development.
Veale added: “We are calling on people to really think about what they want to donate and for more of a focus on educational toys. The big fluffy toys are great and the kids absolutely love them, but we want to build a legacy for the event that fosters development of underprivileged children.
“We will begin to introduce the educational element with messaging through our brand ambassadors and social media a little bit closer to the event."

Colourworks is determined to ensure that the new venue and calling for more educational toys will make this Toy Run not only the most successful, but also the most effective one yet.
The Toy Run revs up Sunday November 27 and starts at 9am.
Tickets
- General Admission Tickets are R50 and includes access to the entertainment village, a Toy Run pin, 7 Star energy drink and entry into the Toy Run raffle.
- Full Throttle Picnic Site Tickets are R750 and includes: 20 General admission tickets plus private picnic site, festival seating with shade, private cash bar and VIP parking.
- Live to Ride Picnic Site Tickets are R600 and includes: 10 General admission tickets plus private picnic site and festival seating with shade.
- Children under 12: Free Entry
