New team to defend SA’s GS Trophy title in Mongolia

Johannesburg - Three South African riders were chosen to represent the country in the International GS Trophy due to take place in Mongolia early in 2018.

Mark Dickinson and Eugene Fourie from Gauteng, and Chris Meyer from the Eastern Cape, were selected at the national qualifiers held at CountryTRAX near Amersfoort in Mpumalanga early in August 2017.

The challenge is on for the new team to defend the title after Team South Africa won the trophy in Thailand in 2016.

At the same event, Linda Steyn and Ezelda van Jaarsveld were chosen to represent South Africa in the international qualifiers for the female GS Trophy team. The qualifiers will take place at CountryTRAX in November 2017, with finalists from across the globe participating.

I understand the mechanics, but this still looks impossible. #r1200gs #gstrophy @wheels24_sa @bmwmotorradsa

Any non-professional BMW rider may participate in the International GS Trophy. The competition tests riding skills, teamwork and adventure abilities. The national team will be fully equipped by BMW Motorrad for the International GS Trophy. In Mongolia, each team member will receive a brand new BMW GS motorcycle to participate with.
