Chery reveals SUV Concept set to hit European market soon

Johannesburg - Chinese automaker, Chery, has confirmed to debut an all-new SUV at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show.

Chery’s display at the Auto Show will represent the company’s new design direction and brand focus. The new designs encompass a new evolution of the Chinese brand’s ‘Life In Motion’ design philosophy.

First SUV

Chery released design sketches of its first model, an SUV, in the all-new model line-up. These models are to be produced for global markets.

The new design philosophy, developed by Chief Designer James Hope, is targeting young, urban, forward-thinking consumers. The body makes use of ‘hydrodynamic surfacing’ characteristics which expresses the visual quality of running water. What can also be taken from its sketches is the large wheels and a muscular stance.

Chery also mentions other design elements to be featured will include sharp chrome horizontal brand bar, complemented by further chrome trim adorning the front bumper, side skirts and window surrounds. The SUV will also have full LED headlamps and a neat rear light cluster design.

Ray Bierzynski, executive vice-president of the Chery R&D Center in Shanghai, said: "The world premiere of our new compact SUV marks the start of our approach to European sales with a new model line. Launching within a few years, all models in the line-up will feature characteristic styling, user-focused technology, electrified powertrains and advanced safety features."

As the most successful exporter of vehicles in China, Chery is now planning to start sales of passenger cars in Europe. It’s all-new model line for global markets is to focus on the SUV and crossover segment.
