CAPE TOWN - One of the year's most eagerly-awaited car shows, the Monterey car week, is taking place in California.
The event runs from August 10-16 culminating in the famous Concourse de Elegance at Pebble Beach and is split into an amazing auction and classic-car racing at the Laguna Seca Raceway.

Set in the picturesque Monterey Bay, the cars will be displayed for aficionados to view.

The next Honda NSX is in California! Acura, Honda's US nameplate showed its hybrid supercar sporting a stupendous nouvelle blue pearl paintjob.
There are a plethora of vintage cars at the event. A Mercedes 300SL Gullwing, one of the best-looking coupe's built yet, was spotted on the manicured lawns.
As we mentioned earlier, auctions are part of the event. This Saleen S7 (below) went to the highest bidder for $682 000!
An amazing video of a garage filled with Lamborghinis was published. Supercars from the former tractor-maker includes a Diablo, Huracan and a Murcielago SV...
Another iconic vehicle sold was a pristine Ferrari 250 Le Mans. This stunning example fetched a record for this particular model. A very wealthy individual snapped it up for $17.6-million.
A company that has dominated supercar headlines recently is McLaren, we drove the Woking-based firm's manic 650S in July 2015 and can attest to its performance.
McLaren's most famous car, the F1, was spotted on display at Monterey. The supercar was one of the last of the real analog performance machines used a high-revving BMW 6.1-litre V12 producing a mammoth 468kW/651Nm and famously used centrally-positioned driving seat for optimal weight distribution.
The rumours of a BMW M4 GTS look to be confirmed when this photograph taken at Monterey surfaced on Instagram. We can't wait!
