Cape Town - At the end of August 2017, more than 46 131 new vehicles were sold in South Africa, but it was Toyota who led the charge at the front.
With a total sales figure 10 751 units, Toyota dominate the local market space in formidable fashion. Behind the Japanese manufacturer, Volkswagen sold 7299 new vehicles, followed by Ford on 6482 units.
Nissan sold a total of 5050 new vehicles in fourth place; ahead of Hyundai on 3062 units.
Year-to-date, Toyota sold a total of 82 610 new vehicles, followed by Volkswagen (58 269 units), Ford (46 049 units), Nissan (33 173 units), and General Motors (23 869 units).
Exportation
For August 2017, a total of 29 927 vehicles were exported from South Africa’s shores.
Mercedes-Benz headlines this segment of the sales charts with a whopping 10 501 units being shipped off.
Volkswagen had the second-most figure of 6671 units, with Ford (3083 units) in third place.
Premium German automaker, BMW, exported 5615 units, ahead of Toyota who exported 3138 vehicles last month.
Year-to-date, Mercedes-Benz exported 73 110 new vehicles, followed by Volkswagen (48 845 units), Ford (30 095 units), BMW (29 199 units), and Toyota (28 173 units).
